Care instructions

Care instructions

Our products are made to last for a long time. When you take care of them in the proper way, their functions maintain even longer. It is important to avoid unnecessary washing since washing negatively impact the environment and the garment's life span. Below you will find instructions on how to care for your garment. When you give your garments a little extra love and care, they will be able to protect you longer and at the same time reduce the environmental impact.

durAtec®

8848 Altitude works with a family of high-performance functional materials, durAtec -Supreme, Extrem, Softshell, Softshell Advanced and SuperStretch. All functional materials have a fluorocarbon free surface finish, for your and the environment's sake.

Remember to avoid unnecessary washing of garments in functional materials. It is often enough to air the garment or to carefully wipe away stains. However, dirty functional materials get poorer breathability and, in the long run, poorer water proofing. When washing, be sure to follow the product's washing instructions. Remember to close zippers, buttons and velcro straps to avoid extra wear during washing. If the product is equipped with synthetic fur trim on the hood, it is important that this is removed before washing. Also, be careful not to use fabric softener as this will impair the technical function.

Even if the washing procedure is followed, the water repellency will unfortunately gradually wash away. Therefore, the product needs to be impregnated to regain its original water rejection. It is important to consider using an impregnation that is free of fluorocarbons. On our website there is such an impregnation to buy, OrganoTex - wash in. Remember to always follow the product's washing instructions during the impregnation.

Primaloft Insulation®

You can wash our Primaloft Insulation® in a regular washing machine. Always follow the garment’s washing instructions and do not use fabric softener. Garments with Primaloft insulation should not be tumble-dried but be dried after washing. The only exception is the Primaloft Thermo Plume filling which require tumble-drying.

Down

You can wash our down products in a regular washing machine. Always follow the garment’s washing instructions and do not use softener as it damages the down. Also, be sure to close zippers, buttons and velcro straps to avoid extra wear. Our down products should always be tumble-dried inside out. Make sure to tumble dry at a maximum of 40°C and put some tennis balls in the tumble dryer so the down spread better. It is very important that the garment becomes completely dry in the tumble dryer, to avoid down lumps and uneven down distribution in the garment. Shaking the garment during drying and afterwards also helps to spread the down in a good way.

Knitted synthetic materials

Wash these products in a regular washing machine, but make sure not to wash them unnecessarily and only when the garment is dirty. Follow the washing instructions and do not use fabric softener. Do not tumble dry the garment, it saves energy and makes the garment last longer.

Wool

Wool is, in itself, dirt-repellent and anti-bacterial, which means that it is often sufficient to air a wool garment outdoors or in a slightly damp environment to get it fresh again.

In case the garment needs to be washed, it is important to follow the washing instructions and follow the washing machine's wool program at max 30°C. Use a detergent specially designed for wool materials, which will make your wool garment last longer. Remember not to use fabric softener. It is important not to wash wool garments too hot, as they shrink more easily then. It is also important not to use a washing program with too much machining as this can cause the wool to felt.

Wool sometimes get worn during use, which is normal and decreases over time. The scratches that may arise are easy to gently pull away.

Cotton

You can wash our cotton products in a regular washing machine. Always follow the garment washing instructions. Fill the washing machine and do not use fabric softener. Garments with print should be turned inside out before washing for better preservation. Do not tumble dry the garments, it saves energy and makes the garments last longer.

Repair kit

8848 Altitude's functional clothes are designed to be used for many years. The materials are durable but unfortunately a fabric can still break if it meets a razor-sharp ski or a sharp stone. If the accident occurs, we offer a repair kit with repair patches so the garment can live on. Follow the instructions on the packaging carefully and check how the fabric in the garment reacts, since all materials are differently sensitive to heat.

Spare parts

8848 Altitude products are designed to last a long time, but if a button breaks or a puller rams off, we have a small amount of spare parts. Please contact us and we will try to help extend the garment's life, good for you and good for the environment!

Impregnation

All 8848 Altitude functional clothes have a surface treatment that is free of fluorocarbons and even if the washing instructions are followed, the water repellency will gradually deteriorate during washing and use. When this happens, the product needs to be impregnated to regain its original water rejection. It is important to consider using an impregnation that is free of fluorocarbons. Such impregnation is available to buy on our website, OrganoTex - wash in. Remember to always follow the product's washing instructions during the impregnation.
